SUMMARY:DNRT Adventure: Little River Reserve
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nLittle River Reserve\n\nOne of our cornerstones of OutHounds Adventure and Training Academy’s mission is to be good stewards of the environment. As such\, we have begun to collaborate with our local land trusts\, and we are beyond excited to begin collaborating with the Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust. If you follow us on social media\, you know that we are frequent flyers on DNRT trails\, and we hope you will be too! Come join us twice this month on a beautiful DNRT property. What better way to kick off this collaboration by paying a visit to OHAC inaugural adventure (almost 5 years ago!): Little River Reserve! While the epic suspension bridge has been removed since then\, Little River is still an OHAC favorite. Varied terrain\, challenging footing and beautiful marsh views certainly makes this quite the Adventure! Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our Standard Adventure! \n*While our Standard Adventures are always free\, we encourage you to SUPPORT our land trusts by considering making a donation here: https://dnrt.org/donate/ \nParticipants  will get a cool DNRT dog BANDANA! \n  \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Destruction Brook is certainly a popular and highly trafficked DNRT gem with rocky and root covered paths and a few steep (yet quick) inclines. However\, more than the terrain\, navigating such a popular destination poses a whole different challenge for our Adventurers (2-legged and 4-legged OutHounds alike!) SUMMARY:Buzzards Bay Coalition Standard Adventure: The Bogs
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nThe Bogs\n\nThe Bogs has been a long time favorite destination for the Adventure Club\, and it is even more exciting now that OHAC is collaborating with the Buzzards Bay Coalition! The predominantly flat and open trails are great for the beginning hiker\, yet the beauty can be appreciated by all! Adventure Guide Tim does like to lead the group into the forest trail\, which does boast a mild incline and some tricky footing\, depending on the flood stage of the subsequent swamp. Although\, even if we have to double back or risk the dryness of our socks\, we always have a great time out here. (Check out our pictures from the spring!) This a great trail for just getting yourself (and your dog!) OUT and reconnecting with nature. DESCRIPTION:This session: \nSimmons Pond\n\nJoin us for some true holiday spirit\, at one of our favorite Adventure hikes: Simmons Pond and the “hidden” Christmas Tree Forest. See what happens when nature takes over. It is truly breathtaking! \n\nSimmons Pond is certainly one of OHAC’s favorite Adventures. We suppose any tenderly cared for oasis that boasts tree cookies\, 30 hidden birdhouses\, trail magic\, history lessons\, and a sense of deep pride in a community’s land trust is worthy of “favorite” designation! Path’s here are wide and welcoming with minimal inclines. Parts of the trail can get not only muddy\, but completely flooded–although this tends to be a Springtime occurrence.
