SUMMARY:Free Standard Adventure: Waterworks
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nWaterworks: Island Time \nFor months Adventure Guide Tim had heard about a great place to run\, called Waterworks–and for months\, Tinkle checked Google Maps looking for it! While there are miles of trails that dart in and out of the areas around Great Quittacas Pond\, we will begin at the North Rochester Congregational Church. This is a predominantly forest trail with some mild inclines and great views of the pond—and an island that one can’t help think of the classic television show\, Lost!  (Don’t worry—we don’t think it’s TOO haunted!) Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Some steeper inclines\, Tall grassy areas \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Large shoulder street-side dirt lot or paved lot at church. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Special Urban Adventure: New Bedford Folk Festival!
DESCRIPTION:This Session: \nNew Bedford Folk Festival \nOutHounds Adventure Club’s mission is to find the adventure and beauty in our world.  And while many times\, we turn to Mother Nature\, we also find beauty in our own backyards.  Especially when our own backyard hosts an annual\, world-reknown Music and Art Festival!  Once again\, OHAC will be descending upon our beautiful city and making our presence known!  If you have bells from the Christmas Stroll\, wear them–hear is an opportunity to showcase what OHAC is all about.  While pets are NOT allowed in the actual ticketed portion of this event (and OHAC absolutely respects this restriction)–we will take the opportunity to meander thru areas that are free and open to the public in New Bedford’s historic downtown district and get some of the sites and sounds of being around a major event.  (OHAC also highly recommends getting a ticket and going back thru on your own to get the full experience!) \nWe will meet at Buttonwood Park\, on the corner of Rockdale and Hawthorn and meander our way down to the festivities. \n  \n  \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: side walk and cobblestones \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Paved lots. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.

SUMMARY:Free Lite Adventure: Simmons Pond
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nSimmons Pond \nCome join us for  an OHAC (and particularly a K-Boose) favorite! \nWe can’t believe the last time out\, Adventure Club was getting into the holiday spirit by visiting the magical Christmas tree forest! \nSimmons Pond is truly a tenderly cared for oasis that boasts tree cookies\, 30 hidden birdhouses\, trail magic\, history lessons\, and a sense of deep pride in a community’s land trust is worthy of K-Boose’s “favorite” designation! Path’s here are wide and welcoming with minimal inclines. Parts of the trail can get not only muddy\, but completely flooded–although this tends to be a Springtime occurrence. Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles. \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Some street-side walking \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. SUMMARY:Free Lite Adventure: New Boston Road
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nNew Boston Road\n\nNew Boston Road Trail has been a long time favorite destination for the Adventure Club—especially being our THIRD ever adventure!  (Remember the flooded trails with brave adventurers balancing precariously on slippery wooden boards?  Yeah\, that one!) NBRT is a really great launching point into the network of trails that all include Tripps Mill and The Bogs. Trails are predominantly flat and seasonally can become quite flooded and footing can be tricky. However\, the swamp does take care of business pretty quickly\, and our friends over at the Buzzards Bay Coalition are working at helping people navigate thru with some boardwalk construction. Although\, even if we have to double back or risk the dryness of our socks\, we always have a great time out here. (Again\, check out our pictures from the Spring 2018!) This a great trail for just getting yourself (and your dog!) OUT and reconnecting with nature. Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles. \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Can become easily flooded.  Does allow hunting in season. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Bright colors recommended.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Small dirt lot. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.

SUMMARY:Free Lite Adventure: Ridge Hill
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nRidge Hill \nRidge Hill will live in OHAC lore for all time as our second ever hike brought quite the adventure! One of the neighborhood cattle made one of their all to frequent trips out of his paddock and down to the Ridge Hill parking lot just as we were shoving off! As we said then\, sometimes you seek adventure and sometimes adventure finds you!\nRidge Hill also happens to be one of Tinkle’s favorite DNRT trails\, but don’t advertise that too much or else everyone will start going there! Let’s save this gem for the Adventure Club! Path’s here are well cared for by volunteers and offer a little challenge for everyone. There are some steeper inclines and some rocks and roots that make for some tricky footing (especially closer to the reservoir). Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles. \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Some street-side walking \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Small Dirt Lot. Street-side overflow. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
