SUMMARY:Extended Adventure: Myles Standish State Park
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nMyles Standish \nMyles Standish State Park’s Pine Barrens trail is an OutHounds favorite. This is a challenging 8 to 9 mile trail with steep inclines and beautiful views. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Sandy footing with some steep inclines. State Parks classify this as “difficult”. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Grinnell Path/ Whitetail loop...Sort of!
DESCRIPTION:This Session: \nWhitetail Loop/ Grinnell Path…Sort of! \nYet another launching point into Southcoast’s amazing Freetown-Fall River State Forest network of trails.  Technically speaking\, we will not be hiking much of the Whitetail Loop this time around–but it is close by! Tinkle is excited to share an old favorite with the OHAC–in an area well-known by dirt bikers\, but seldom traversed by hikers!  But why let those guys have all the fun? Come join us for another exciting Adventure!  You really feel like you are “hiking” out here. \n  \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Rocky\, varied. SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Padanaram Summer Festival
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nPadanaram Village \nEvery once and awhile it is good for OHAC to come out of the wilderness and touch base with the rest of civilization. It allows us to restock\, grab some trail candy (and if the stars align) force Tinkle and PB to take a shower now and again! But don’t let the Urban Hike fool you–there is still plenty of Adventuring to take place! This go around\, OHAC will be visiting the Padanaram Summer Festival—a fantastic art festival which will prove to be a different Adventuring experience for our OutHounds and OutHumans alike.  Padanaram is a quintessential Southern New England coastal community\, with tight little streets with little shops and restaurants! Come join OHAC and experience your everyday world thru Adventure Eyes! \nWe will meet at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, expect crowds \nYou need: Proper footwear. Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Acushnet Cedar Swamp
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nAcushnet Cedar Swamp\n\nFor some folks\, you may be wondering\, “Why should I join OutHounds Adventure Club\, when I could just go out on my own?” Or maybe you gather a group of friends now and again for safety in numbers. Here at OHAC\, we applaud those who do GET OUT–and if you aren’t joining us in person\, join us in spirit. (#adventureclubchallenge) HOWEVER\, if you do join us\, an adventure like this weekend is one of the reasons why–getting to explore a place that few people check out on their own! Tinkle Tim is always GETTING OUT and is always on the hunt for the next NEW place. In his travels\, he will often see patches of green on a map and wonder\, “Well what the heck is going on over there?” He will then either research or sometimes he’ll just go and see what happens! \nAcushnet Cedar Swamp is just one of those places. There are no trail markers. The terrain can certainly be quite wet. But it is exciting to navigate thru a wide swath of untamed forest and swamp and come out *relatively* unscathed on the other side! \nExpect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our Standard Adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Some street-side walking \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Spacious street-side in industrial park. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. \n

SUMMARY:Extended Adventure: Lincoln Woods
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nLincoln Woods \nFor OHAC regulars\, you know we frequent Swansea Village Park.  Part of the attraction is the epic rock outcroppings and boulders.  Lincoln Woods is like Swansea Village Park’s older brother!  Bigger\, more wild and many more boulders!  There is a pleasant paved loop around a lake\, but in true Adventure Club fashion\, we seek out the trails frequented by mountain bikers and others with a more daring spirit!  While we typically expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our Standard Adventure\, don’t be too disappointed if it’s closer to three! Your quads won’t know the difference! \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure across the street at the Chase and Butterfly Farm. \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Rugged with steep inclines.  Some precarious footing. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Street-side in the park. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. \n

SUMMARY:Free Standard Adventure: Waterworks
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nWaterworks: Island Time \nFor months Adventure Guide Tim had heard about a great place to run\, called Waterworks–and for months\, Tinkle checked Google Maps looking for it! While there are miles of trails that dart in and out of the areas around Great Quittacas Pond\, we will begin at the North Rochester Congregational Church. This is a predominantly forest trail with some mild inclines and great views of the pond—and an island that one can’t help think of the classic television show\, Lost!  (Don’t worry—we don’t think it’s TOO haunted!) Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Some steeper inclines\, Tall grassy areas \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. SUMMARY:Special Urban Adventure: New Bedford Folk Festival!
DESCRIPTION:This Session: \nNew Bedford Folk Festival \nOutHounds Adventure Club’s mission is to find the adventure and beauty in our world.  And while many times\, we turn to Mother Nature\, we also find beauty in our own backyards.  Especially when our own backyard hosts an annual\, world-reknown Music and Art Festival!  Once again\, OHAC will be descending upon our beautiful city and making our presence known!  If you have bells from the Christmas Stroll\, wear them–hear is an opportunity to showcase what OHAC is all about.  While pets are NOT allowed in the actual ticketed portion of this event (and OHAC absolutely respects this restriction)–we will take the opportunity to meander thru areas that are free and open to the public in New Bedford’s historic downtown district and get some of the sites and sounds of being around a major event.  (OHAC also highly recommends getting a ticket and going back thru on your own to get the full experience!) \nWe will meet at Buttonwood Park\, on the corner of Rockdale and Hawthorn and meander our way down to the festivities. \n  \n  \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: side walk and cobblestones \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Paved lots. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.

Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks.
