SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Fort Barton
DESCRIPTION:This Session: \nFort Barton  (Tiverton\, RI) \nAs we all know\, Adventure Tadhg grew up in the lovely Southeastern Connecticut town of Ledyard–named after the Revolutionary War hero\, Colonel Ledyard. As a kid\, Tadhg’s family would visit Groton’s Fort Griswold\, the site of Ledyard’s fateful stand against a Benedict Arnold led raid on New London and Groton. He has many fond memories of running around the grounds of the fort\, fighting off the “redcoats”. \n\nAfter moving to Massachusetts\, he was very excited to explore Tiverton’s own Revolutionary Era fort\, Fort Barton. He thinks the Adventure Club will really enjoy the dramatic landscape that makes up this little gem! There are plenty of opportunities to seek adventure–not to mention\, catching beautiful views of Mount Hope Bay and Aquidneck Island!\n \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: A very steep paved incline followed by a steep decline path out of the gate\, Rocky and slippery footing \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Quanapoag Road (West Side)
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nQuanapoag Road (West) \n***DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE DOWN QUANAPOAG ROAD. IT IS VERY TREACHEROUS. PLEASE FOLLOW ROUTES THAT TAKE YOU VIA HIXVILLE TO COPICUT ROAD.*** \nThe West End of Quanapoag Road gives Adventure Club yet another launching point into the vast network of forest trails that make up Freetown-Fall River State Forest.  This section is actually part of the SE Mass Bioreserve and skirts alongside the Copicut Rifle Club and active hunting areas. This location gives OHAC several options as far as routes: either hugging the East Side of the Copicut Reservoir before hooking nearly into Ridge Hill OR venturing Northwest.  \nThis is one of Adventure Tadhg’s personal favorites when heading out for one of his own adventures due to varied terrain and interesting trails–and he is excited to share it with OHAC! Let us take you on an exciting Adventure!   \nExpect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure!  \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: The initial part of the trail begins with a steep and loose rock incline making for precarious footing. Fire roads can become easily flooded—particularly on the return trip.\n\nYou need: Proper footwear. This area allows hunting and bright colors are highly recommended.  Water and a snack. SUMMARY:DNRT Adventure: Little River Reserve
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nLittle River Reserve\n\nOne of our cornerstones of OutHounds Adventure and Training Academy’s mission is to be good stewards of the environment. As such\, we have begun to collaborate with our local land trusts\, and we are beyond excited to begin collaborating with the Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust. If you follow us on social media\, you know that we are frequent flyers on DNRT trails\, and we hope you will be too! Come join us twice this month on a beautiful DNRT property. What better way to kick off this collaboration by paying a visit to OHAC inaugural adventure (almost 5 years ago!): Little River Reserve! While the epic suspension bridge has been removed since then\, Little River is still an OHAC favorite. Varied terrain\, challenging footing and beautiful marsh views certainly makes this quite the Adventure! Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our Standard Adventure! \n*While our Standard Adventures are always free\, we encourage you to SUPPORT our land trusts by considering making a donation here: https://dnrt.org/donate/ \n  \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, some roots on the trails \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. SUMMARY:Queer Hikes Adventure: Simmons Pond
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nSimmons Pond\n\nQueer Hikes and OutHounds Adventures will be collaborating for monthly hikes at the end of every month! Join us for one of our favorites\, Simmon’s Pond in Little Compton\, RI.\n\nSimmons Pond is certainly one of OHAC’s favorite Adventures. We suppose any tenderly cared for oasis that boasts tree cookies\, 30 hidden birdhouses\, trail magic\, history lessons\, and a sense of deep pride in a community’s land trust is worthy of “favorite” designation! Path’s here are wide and welcoming with minimal inclines. Parts of the trail can get not only muddy\, but completely flooded–although this tends to be a Springtime occurrence. Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure!  \n\n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\n\nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack.  \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. \nParking: Dirt lot.  \nRegistration: https://OutHounds.as.me/queerhikessimmonspond \nLocation: 212 Coldbrook Rd\, Little Compton\, RI 02837

SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Swansea Village Park
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nSwansea Village Park\n\nSVP is an Adventure Club favorite as it provides both natural and man made obstacles for both our 4-legged and 2-legged OutHounds. The Park is frequented by mountain bikers and NEMBA members have built various equipment that gives our four-legged adventure partners opportunities to practice typical Canine Agility skills such as seesaws\, narrow bridges and climbing walls! Mother Nature hasn’t done a bad job either with all of the pudding stone and large outcroppings that gives the adventurous and sure-footed a view of the treetops. As always\, not every obstacle is for everyone and no one is forced to make choices they aren’t comfortable with! However\, even if you aren’t making the minor climbs\, the ground can be slick and root covered. Who knew that all of this was behind the Swansea Library! Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure!\n\n\n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Can be quite rocky and rooted. There opportunities for real Adventuring and Bouldering. Site is home to many great and large Puddingstone outcroppings!\n\nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack.  \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks.  \nParking: Paved lot behind library.  \nRegistration: https://OutHounds.as.me/swanseavillagepark

SUMMARY:DNRT Adventure - Ridge Hill Reserve - Standard Adventure
DESCRIPTION:This session: \nDNRT Ridge Hill\n\nRidge Hill will live in OHAC lore for all time as our second ever hike brought quite the adventure! One of the neighborhood cattle made one of their all to frequent trips out of his paddock and down to the Ridge Hill parking lot just as we were shoving off! As we said then\, sometimes you seek adventure and sometimes adventure finds you! \nRidge Hill also happens to be one of Adventure Tadhg’s favorite DNRT trails\, but don’t advertise that too much or else everyone will start going there! Let’s save this gem for the Adventure Club! Path’s here are well cared for by volunteers and offer a little challenge for everyone. There are some steeper inclines and some rocks and roots that make for some tricky footing (especially closer to the reservoir). Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure!  \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Some rocky\, hilly terrain. Parts are rooted and slick. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack.  \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water\, poop bags\, and snacks.  \nParking: Small Dirt Lot. SUMMARY:Queer Hikes Adventure: Sakonnet Greenway (North)
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nSakonnet Greenway\, Middletown/Portsmouth RI \nHere at OHAC\, we value our mental health as much as our physical\, and so it is fitting that Adventure Tadhg discovered this gem when he would drive home from his own visits to therapy! (No shame\,  no stigma!) \nStarting at the Polo Grounds\,  the Greenway stretches over 10 miles of trails all the way to Newport Vineyards; passing thru wetlands and skirting the perimeter of Newport’s beautiful golf course.  If heading in the opposite direction\,  you can get to “The Glen” with stunning water views and really cool wooded terrain. What an amazing use of public access! \nExpect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. \nTerrain: Mostly flat\,  although some steeper inclines heading towards the Glen.
