SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Lincoln Woods
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nLincoln Woods \nFor OHAC regulars\, you know we frequent Swansea Village Park.  Part of the attraction is the epic rock outcroppings and boulders.  Lincoln Woods is like Swansea Village Park’s older brother!  Bigger\, more wild and many more boulders!  There is a pleasant paved loop around a lake\, but in true Adventure Club fashion\, we seek out the trails frequented by mountain bikers and others with a more daring spirit!  While we typically expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our Standard Adventure\, don’t be too disappointed if it’s closer to three! Your quads won’t know the difference! \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Rugged with steep inclines.  Some precarious footing. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Street-side in the park. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Special Women's Adventure: Simmons Pond
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nSimmons Pond \nThis weekend we are trying an Adventure Club first!  K-Boose will become  the K-Ductor and lead her very own Women’s Only Adventure–and what better place to do it then Simmon’s Pond?!  We always espouse that Adventure Club is for everyone–and indeed it is–however this is a really great opportunity for our Sister Adventurers to bond on a beautiful\, K-Boose paced stroll in Tinkle’s absence. \nSo join Adventure Club at a tenderly cared for oasis that boasts tree cookies\, 30 hidden birdhouses\, trail magic\, history lessons\, and a sense of deep pride in a community’s land trust! Path’s here are wide and welcoming with minimal inclines. Parts of the trail can get not only muddy\, but completely flooded–although this tends to be a Springtime occurrence. Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Some street-side walking \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Dirt lot. \n

SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Ridge Hill
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nRidge Hill \nRidge Hill will live in OHAC lore for all time as our second ever hike brought quite the adventure! One of the neighborhood cattle made one of their all to frequent trips out of his paddock and down to the Ridge Hill parking lot just as we were shoving off! As we said then\, sometimes you seek adventure and sometimes adventure finds you!\nRidge Hill also happens to be one of Tinkle’s favorite DNRT trails\, but don’t advertise that too much or else everyone will start going there! Let’s save this gem for the Adventure Club! Path’s here are well cared for by volunteers and offer a little challenge for everyone. There are some steeper inclines and some rocks and roots that make for some tricky footing (especially closer to the reservoir). Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Some rocky\, hilly terrain. Parts are rooted and slick. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Small Dirt Lot. Street-side overflow.

SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Haskal Path/ The Ledge
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nHaskal Path/ The Ledge \n“The Ledge” is certainly a favorite of folks in the area\, however Trail Guide Tim has always enjoyed starting his run to the Ledge from the Haskal Path fire road! These paths are also favorites of motorized dirt bikes; and for good reason. Being full of dips and turns\, Haskal Path and it’s subsequent off-shoot trails offer a challenging adventure for sure! SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Swansea Village Park
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nSwansea Village Park \nSVP is an Adventure Club favorite as it provides both natural and man made obstacles for both our OutHounds and OutHumans. The Park is frequented by mountain bikers and NEMBA members have built various equipment that gives our four-legged adventure partners opportunities to practice typical Canine Agility skills such as seesaws\, narrow bridges and climbing walls! Mother Nature hasn’t done a bad job either with all of the pudding stone and large outcroppings that gives the adventurous and sure-footed a view of the treetops. As always\, not every obstacle is for everyone and no one is forced to make choices they aren’t comfortable with! However\, even if you aren’t making the minor climbs\, the ground can be slick and root covered. Who knew that all of this was behind the Swansea Library! Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! Lite Adventurers should expect about 2-3 miles. \nStandard Adventure to be immediately followed by a Lite Adventure. \n**Adventures are held rain or shine.** \nTerrain: Can be quite rocky and rooted. There opportunities for real Adventuring and Bouldering. Site is home to many great and large Puddingstone outcroppings! \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Paved lot behind library. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Copicut Management Area
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nCopicut Wildlife Management Area/ Fire Tower Trail \nSimply labeling this Adventure “Copicut Woods” doesn’t quite do this justice\, as very little time is actually spent in “Copicut Woods!” Tinkle\, K-Boose and Adventure Eric have scouted out a couple of “off the beaten path” trails in recent sessions out this way\, which we think are very much in the spirit of ADVENTURE!! If you have ever wondered\, “I wonder where that goes?” come join OutHounds Adventure Club–chances are\, we know! This a great trail for just getting yourself (and your dog!) OUT and reconnecting with nature. What better way to spend a morning? Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Varied Terrain. Mostly flat with some steep inclines.  Can be rocky and uneven\, with some precarious stream crossings. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  There is hunting allowed in this area\, bright colors highly recommended. SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Fairhaven Bike Path
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nFairhaven Bike Path and Center Village \nThe remnants of Hurricane Dorian is making its way up the coast and our neck of the woods will most likely see Tropical Storm conditions Friday (and potentially into Saturday.) If the weather clears earlier then predicted\, OHAC would still like to get ourselves OUT and about\, so for safeties sake\, Urban Adventure it is! Besides\, every once and awhile it is good for OHAC to come out of the wilderness and touch base with the rest of civilization. It allows us to restock\, grab some trail candy (and if the stars align) force Tinkle and Columbus to take a shower now and again! But don’t let the Urban Hike fool you–there is still plenty of Adventuring to take place! The Fairhaven Bike Path and Center Village is a popular destination for two-legged\, four-legged and any smattering of wheels alike–all of which pose a whole different Adventuring experience for our OutHounds and OutHumans. Come join OHAC and experience your everyday world thru Adventue Eyes! Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. SUMMARY:Standard (Plus!) Labor Day Adventure: F. Gilbert Hills State Forest
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nF. Gilbert Hills\, Foxborough\, MA \nK-Boose and Tinkle first discovered the amazing F. Gilbert Hills in February 2019–Super Bowl Sunday to be exact!  We went to commemorate the New England Patriots; and I’m pretty sure the good vibes generated on our hike really helped them win that sixth championship! \nHowever\, we were the real champions that\, with truly amazing rock outcroppings\, beautifully marked and maintained trails\, and being truly inspired by the power of the “hike”. \nMuch like last time out\, this hike will be commemorating something as well. Many of the trails were originally constructed and maintained by the Civil Conservation Corp (CCC).  These Depression Era laborers were so inspired by their work\, that it instilled a love and desire to conserve our natural world for entire generation.  This Labor Day weekend\, let’s CELEBRATE our history and show that we are instilling this same passion in a new generation! \nExpect about 5+ miles of hiking on our Standard+ Adventure. \n  \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. \nTerrain: Rocky\, hilly terrain.  Mostly wooded\, can be slick in spots. \nYou need: Proper footwear. Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Small Lot. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.

SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Sakonnet Greenway (North)
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nSakonnet Greenway\, Middletown/Portsmouth RI \nHere at OHAC\, we value our mental health as much as our physical\, and so it is fitting that Tinkle discovered this gem when he would drive home from his own visits to therapy! (No shame\,  no stigma!) \nStarting at the Polo Grounds\,  the Greenway stretches over 10 miles of trails all the way to Newport Vineyards\,  passing thru wetlands and skirting the perimeter of Newport’s beautiful golf course.  If heading in the opposite direction\,  you can get to “The Glen” with stunning waterviews and really cool wooded terrain. We will probably do a little of both and get a taste for both! What an amazing use of public access! \nExpect about 4-5+ miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n  \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. \nTerrain: Mostly flat\,  although some steeper inclines heading towards the Glen. Footing can be very slick on the extensive boardwalks\,  however! \nYou need: Proper footwear. Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. Signed Adventure Contract and EITHER – proof of up-to-date shots or OH Veterinary Release Form. \nParking: Street-side. \n**If this is your FIRST adventure\, please be to trail 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. \n
