SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: New Boston Road Trail
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nNew Boston Road\n\nNew Boston Road Trail has been a long time favorite destination for the Adventure Club—especially being our THIRD ever adventure!  (Remember the flooded trails with brave adventurers balancing precariously on slippery wooden boards?  Yeah\, that one!) NBRT is a really great launching point into the network of trails that all include Tripps Mill and The Bogs. Trails are predominantly flat and seasonally can become quite flooded and footing can be tricky. However\, the swamp does take care of business pretty quickly\, and our friends over at the Buzzards Bay Coalition are working at helping people navigate thru with some boardwalk construction. Although\, even if we have to double back or risk the dryness of our socks\, we always have a great time out here. (Again\, check out our pictures from the Spring 2018!) This a great trail for just getting yourself (and your dog!) OUT and reconnecting with nature. Expect about 4-5 miles of hiking on our standard adventure! \n**Adventures are typically held rain or shine. Please check Facebook\, Instagram and emails for severe weather cancellations.** \nTerrain: Mostly flat\, Can become easily flooded.  Does allow hunting in season. \nYou need: Proper footwear.  Bright colors recommended.  Water and a snack. Signed Release Form. \nYour Dog needs: Properly fitting harness\, water and snacks. \nParking: Small dirt lot. \n  \n  \n

Path can be flooded in parts. A couple of short\, but slippery inclines/ declines\, Footing can be tricky in parts\n\n\n \n\n\nYou need: Proper footwear. Water and a snack. DESCRIPTION:This session:\nHaskal Path/ The Ledge \n“The Ledge” is certainly a favorite of folks in the area\, however Trail Guide Tim has always enjoyed starting his run to the Ledge from the Haskal Path fire road! These paths are also favorites of motorized dirt bikes; and for good reason. Being full of dips and turns\, Haskal Path and it’s subsequent off-shoot trails offer a challenging adventure for sure! SUMMARY:Standard Adventure: Haskell Swamp Wildlife Management Area
DESCRIPTION:This session:\nHaskell Swamp Wildlife Management Area \nDirections are tricky for this! If you are coming off of 195\, head NORTH on North Street at the Mattapoisett Exit 19B. The small wooded lot will be on the RIGHT at ABOUT the drop pin location. There is a sign. \nAs you can tell from the directions\, this is a lesser known patch of swampy awesomeness! There are some nice logging roads\, and certainly some adventurous trekking\, especially if you are looking to avoid getting TOO wet out there. Be sure to bring thick socks\, waterproof boots\, BLAZE ORANGE (this is a Wildlife Management Area after all) and your Exploring Spirit! As such\, we have begun to collaborate with our local land trusts\, and we are beyond excited to begin collaborating with the Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust. If you follow us on social media\, you know that we are frequent flyers on DNRT trails\, and we hope you will be too! Come join us twice this month on a beautiful DNRT property. What better way to kick off this collaboration by paying a visit to OHAC inaugural adventure (almost 5 years ago!): Little River Reserve! While the epic suspension bridge has been removed since then\, Little River is still an OHAC favorite. Varied terrain\, challenging footing and beautiful marsh views certainly makes this quite the Adventure! DESCRIPTION:This session: \nThe Bogs\n\nThe Bogs has been a long time favorite destination for the Adventure Club\, and it is even more exciting now that OHAC is collaborating with the Buzzards Bay Coalition! The predominantly flat and open trails are great for the beginning hiker\, yet the beauty can be appreciated by all! Adventure Guide Tim does like to lead the group into the forest trail\, which does boast a mild incline and some tricky footing\, depending on the flood stage of the subsequent swamp. Although\, even if we have to double back or risk the dryness of our socks\, we always have a great time out here. (Check out our pictures from the spring!) We suppose any tenderly cared for oasis that boasts tree cookies\, 30 hidden birdhouses\, trail magic\, history lessons\, and a sense of deep pride in a community’s land trust is worthy of “favorite” designation! DESCRIPTION:This session: \nHistoric New Bedford \nWhile OutHounds Adventure & Training Academy’s Adventure Club typically traverses our more remote and wooded areas\, we do like to gather in more populous locales once in a while and have an “Urban Adventure!” We couldn’t think of a better time\, then to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King. Come join Adventure Club on this Urban Adventure Hike to commemorate his legacy by walking New Bedford’s Black History Trail. Starting at Pier 3 on the New Bedford waterfront\, we will follow the Trail as meticulously curated by the New Bedford Historical Society. Our path will lead us to Buttonwood Park and back again! \nAt each location\, we will read and learn a little bit about the rich history along the way. DESCRIPTION:Our signature\, rolling enrollment leveled Adventure Manners courses are a great way to help you not only learn the foundational skills necessary for whatever adventures life has to offer\, but to also always continue to grow and learn and achieve new goals. Each class session stands on its own\, so they can be taken in any order! \nYou can either sign up for 1 session at a time or buy bundles of 4 or 6 at a time. Continue to come and learn new skills\, take on new challenges\, and your dog AND you will earn Merit Badges for your accomplishments along the way!
